This consultation explores both Autistic and ADHD experiences in one session. You’ll meet online with one of our psychologists for an exploratory conversation – where you can explore experiences about being Autistic, ADHD, or both and discuss whether your characteristics align with these traits.
You can also explore the pros and cons of a further formal identification assessment.
During the booking process, you can indicate if you’d like additional focus on ADHD. After the consultation, you can choose to investigate ADHD or Autistic experience separately, explore both further, or decide not to proceed - there’s no expectation to pursue Collaborative Identification.
Whatever path you choose, our psychologists will offer expert guidance and support every step of the way.

Our best practice autism assessments are collaborative and respectful. We prefer to call this a ‘collaborative identification process’, because it this is a more up to date, neurodiversity affirmative way of framing assessment. Our assessments are best practice and follow NICE Guidelines. Our documentation and “diagnosis” are accepted by all public and private organisations, including the NHS and the HSE.
Our approach reflects our progressive, neuroaffirmative commitment to respecting and celebrating unique Autistic experience.
The identification process includes three in-depth conversation sessions with one of our psychologists who truly understand your journey, followed by a post-identification support session.
Our approach celebrates your strengths while fully recognising your support needs and understanding the complexities of everyday Autistic living. Whatever path you choose, our psychologists will offer expert guidance and support every step of the way.

Then, you will have 3 in depth collaborative conversations with your chosen psychologist based on your communication preferences (e.g. your camera can be off, no eye contact is expected, you can communicate by typed or spoken communication)
While there can be individual variation, here is a breakdown of how sessions can typically look.
First Appointment (1-1.5 hours):
You will begin by exploring what brought you here, why you think you might be Autistic and cover areas related to communication preferences, experiences in relationships and experiences of non spoken communication. Exploration of sensory experiences might also start in this session.
Second Appointment (1-1.5 hours): This session typically covers sensory experiences, preferences around routines, your passions and interests, and any ways you might use your body to regulate.
You will also explore earlier life experiences, possible trauma and mental health history so you can consider together with your psychologist if there are other potential explanations for your experiences.
Third Appointment (1-1.5 hours): This session reviews the key themes from both previous appointments and collaboratively formally arrives at Autistic identification (or not).
Because of the open, collaborative nature of the process, clients typically enter this session with a clear sense of the outcome - there are no dramatic reveals, just confirmation (“diagnosis” if indicated) and clarity.
Included with your assessment is a one-to-one support session with our trusted partners the award-winning non-profit, Thriving Autistic, who run the Neurodivergent Practitioners Directory. Your session will be tailored to Autistic experience specifically. They'll also welcome you into a vibrant neurodivergent community with social meet-ups, advocacy support and tailored resources.

If you wish to explore whether you experience the world in an ADHD way and want formal identification (“diagnosis), we're here for you.
Our best practice ADHD assessments are collaborative and respectful. We prefer to call this a ‘collaborative identification process’, because it this is a more up to date, neurodiversity affirmative way of framing assessment.
Our assessments are best practice and follow NICE Guidelines. Our “diagnoses” are accepted as valid by all public and private organisations, including the NHS and the HSE (however individual organisations will have different rules around the source of documentation needed to access medication specifically).
Our approach reflects our progressive, neuroaffirmative commitment to respecting and celebrating unique ADHD experience.
You'll work through three meaningful conversation sessions with psychologists who truly understand this journey. After your identification (“diagnosis”), you'll receive a complimentary support session to help you navigate what comes next.
We focus on your strengths and what makes you uniquely you, while also recognising the real support you may need and the day-to-day realities of living with ADHD. Whatever path you choose, our psychologists will offer expert guidance and support every step of the way.

This autism & ADHD assessments are neurodiversity affirmative and designed to help you gain clarity about whether you are Autistic, ADHD, or AuDHD.
It’s an open, reflective approach that celebrates your strengths while acknowledging the realities of neurodivergent living.
Our assessments are best practice and follow NICE Guidelines. Our documentation and “diagnosis” are accepted by all public and private organisations, including the NHS and the HSE (although for stimulant medication specifically, different organisations will have different rules about access).
Our approach reflects our progressive, neuroaffirmative commitment to respecting and celebrating unique neurodivergent experiences.
Together, you'll explore your experiences through five meaningful 1–1.5 hour in-depth sessions.
Whatever path you choose, our psychologists will offer expert guidance and support every step of the way.

In this final session, you and your psychologist review everything explored together and formally arrive at identification (“diagnosis”) – whether Autistic, ADHD, or both, or another understanding.Because of the clear, open collaborative approach throughout, you usually enter this appointment with a clear sense of the outcome. This session offers confirmation, clarity about your identity, and guidance for moving forward.
Post-identification Support
Included with your assessment is a one-to-one support session with our trusted partners, the award-winning non-profit Thriving Autistic (powered by the Neurodivergent Practitioners’ Directory) .Your session will be tailored for your neurotype and they will welcome you into a vibrant neurodivergent community with social meet-ups, advocacy support, tailored resources, and access to their award-winning 6-week Discover Programme.
Your support session will be designed specifically for your outcome, i.e. if you are Autistic, ADHD or both.
This process is all about getting to know yourself, finding your people, and building a life that works for you.

Your Post-Assessment Session
Following your identification, you’ll meet with a member of the Thriving Autistic team for a dedicated support session focused on you – your needs, your next steps, and what life looks like beyond identification. Together, you’ll create a plan for moving forward that feels affirming, practical, and aligned with your unique goals.Ongoing Support
After your session, you’ll gain access to Thriving Autistic’s wider community and their 6-week Discover Programme. This includes live sessions, reflective tools, and connections with other Autistic and ADHD adults who share similar experiences. It’s about belonging, empowerment, and finding confidence in your identity. -
Included as part of all Collaborative Autistic, ADHD, and combined assessments.

Tailored to Your Organisation
We offer standard half-day and full-day training formats, but we adapt every session to meet your specific needs.
Training is provided by core MDT team members, including Principal Psychologists and Consultant Occupational Therapists.
We’ve worked with Ireland’s Health Service Executive (including CDNTs, Primary Care, and Adult Disability services), NEPS, multiple doctoral training programs including Trinity College Dublin, IASLT, AOTI and many other organisations - each with customised content that addresses their unique context.

Follow-on
Assessments

Our follow-on assessments are designed for anyone who has already completed an Autistic or ADHD Experience Assessment and now wishes to explore the other area in more depth. You can decide this in your own time. Many people naturally grow curious as their understanding deepens, and choosing a psychologist who understands means you can continue with someone who already knows you and your story. There’s no need to start again or re-explain your history.

When you’re ready, you’ll complete a dedicated booking form for returning clients. Your psychologist will guide you through two additional online sessions, focused on exploring either your lived ADHD experience or your lived Autistic experience, depending on what you’d like to understand further. The structure mirrors your first assessment but is tailored to build on what you’ve already covered.

Important Information About ADHD Identification & Medication
At The Adult Autism & ADHD Practice, our psychologists provide ADHD identification through a collaborative assessment process. However, we cannot provide prescriptions for ADHD medication. Only psychiatrists or qualified doctors can prescribe ADHD medication.
However, if you are identified as ADHD assessment with us, we will be able to signpost you to a psychiatrist or doctor who specializes in ADHD to prescribe medication if appropriate.
We share this information upfront so you can make the best decision for your situation.
