Sofie is a Clinical Psychologist who has enjoyed working with Autistic people for many years. She is a Chartered member of the Psychological Society of Ireland

Sofie is passionate about, and committed to, undertaking best practice, collaborative, neurodiversity affirmative assessments, where strengths of individuals are celebrated. Sofie is passionate about creating a safe, trusting space within the assessment process. Sofie believes in the importance of a strong therapeutic alliance, cultivated through mutual respect, empathy and collaboration. Sofie is very aware of how masking can present, in both Autistic men and women

Sofie completed her Doctoral training in Clinical Psychology with Trinity College Dublin. She holds a BA Psychology from University College Dublin and an MSc from the National College of Ireland, Galway.  Sofie also completed additional training in Acute Mental Health Interventions with University College Dublin. In addition to The Adult Autism Practice, Sofie works in the area of Child and Adolescent Mental Health.  Sofie also works in The Children’s Clinic, Dublin providing neurodiversity affirmative child autism assessments

Sofie has worked in a range of health settings.  She has experience working within Adult Mental Health Services and has over ten years’ experience supporting Autistic people within Lifespan Disability Services. Other posts have included Primary Care, Adult Mental Health, School Age and Early Intervention Disability Services and Child and Adolescent Mental Health.  She has worked with individuals managing a range of psychological difficulties including anxiety, low mood, self-esteem issues, eating distress, OCD, and self-harm

Sofie has trained in a range of therapeutic approaches such as Compassion Focused Therapy, and Psycho-dynamic approaches. She has a particular interest in Compassion Focused Therapy and believes in the value of building strong therapeutic relationships. Sofie has an interest in peri-natal mental health, including maternal and infant well-being.  Her doctoral research exploring Mothers’ Experience of Peri-Natal Obsessive Compulsive Disorder was recently published in the International Journal of Applied Psychoanalytic Studies
